This is so powerful and bleak...and yet, I firmly believe that Spock would not abandon even a revenant of Jim if there was any way he could come for him. I love how confident Jim is in that knowledge...even if he's not quite Jim.

Author's Response: Thanks. I am very proud of this one. Glad it rings true.

This is so striking. The idea of lost souls coming together and clinging to each other appeals to me, and I find this characterization of Scotty in the middle of all that so realistic. I'm sad about the cliffhanger at the end, though.

Author's Response: No worries about it being a cliff-hanger -- it's a multichapter work. <3 Thanks so much! The Mirror!Scott has always been a tragedy, if nothing else.

I love the K&S&M interactions--very amusing! But I also really appreciated how, with all they've seen and done, these three can still find awe for the beauty of nature. I think you brought that out really well. I also like how Spock gave the other two that experience as a gift, but did it so quietly and subtly that it almost wasn't noticeable. Well done.

What a poignant vignette! I love hearing them all worry about Kirk--with good reason--and I love hearing that no matter how hard they're working, Spock makes sure they get rest, and then takes the work on himself. Well done!

For all that I love this episode, what with Kirk and Spock being all gangstery, it's very interesting to think about what might have happened when the cameras stopped rolling. I think you hit on a very realistic possibility. Well done!

Nice! I know I already reviewed, but I wanted to read it again. Now that I've been watching Enterprise, I like how Spock has come to fit in in the human world without displaying the derision that the Vulcans seemed to show in earlier generations. I'm sure that Captain Pike had much to do with that, and you characterize that well.

Author's Response: Thanks! I love writing in Pike's era, and someday hope to do more.

What a poignant vignette! And very true to a the son/mother relationship. As children we don't really question what our parents do--parents are weird, and we know that. But as adults, we realize there may be more to their odd choices than we understood, and those choices take on deeper meaning. I liked how you portrayed that with just the simple image of Amanda washing something important.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! For a short piece, it was some work writing it.

This is a very interesting look at the ways in which jealousy and honor can both war within the same man. Good use of the 2nd person--that's a crazy way to write, but it can have its uses. One thing is does, which you utilize well, is to make it seem like the narrator is distancing himself from his own feelings and choices. Good job with a minor character and a tricky challenge!
