Ha! I have no trouble seeing McGregor waking up next to a guy more than once in his life if it got him intel he wanted or if he was just blind stinking drunk and horny enough, even if that is not his preferred flavor.

I still think this whole tale could use a proof and edit. Sometime I will have to volunteer my services for such. Even so, there's plenty of meat on the metaphorical bone. McGregor manages to give both the reader and his fledglings a good view of the goodies on the hangar deck, but also a look at the back end of the politics in the bright and shiny Federation. Which is, of course, a newsletter I subscribe to myself.

But man, does he give a tour. Nothing like spacewalking with a man who threatens to airlock those who displease him.

Oh, McGregor! Ah, he’s such a breath of fresh air (unless someone passed wind) and is so good at being so absurd. I picked up where I left off, for some reason, all those years ago here in Ch. 5 and I see that the ensigns are still being thrown a bit off kilter by the eccentric (understatement) methods of their captain. The tour of the hanger bay was fantastic. You put a lot of love into the very descriptive details you threw out here, from the worker bees to the Wasps, and the history you give of the old Miranda class is also well done.

The interplay between the three ensigns and McGregor was grin worthy all about. He joked, they responded, but he seems to have a particular effect on young Jex. Being a female Trill and living as many lives as she has, I’m sure McGregor isn’t the first eccentric type she’s crossed by he seems to be making quite an impression on her. I wonder … nah. She’s just an ensign, right? Maybe? McGregor and Jex? Ah, who knows, he is McGregor.

Anyways, back to the tour of the hanger and we stumble across the venerable Galileo class, which is surprisingly still kicking (but is a kickass design). McGregor’s final orders to “suit up” should make the ensigns excited … or dread filled. Fun chapter with great description and interplay. Well done.

LOL! I have one thing to say for this captain, if his crew doesn't go crazy trying to figure him out, they'll end up thinking as 'out-of-the-box' as it gets. :D

Author's Response:

Have a feeling they'll end up going crazy - that is if he doesn't kill them first! LOL

McGregor is sort of like Jack Sparrow. You don't know if he's crazy or crazy like a fox. LOL!

Author's Response:

LOL! That's a pretty cool assessment of things. I might have someone use that line to describe McGregor - crazy or crazy like a fox heh heh! Thanks for reading IntrepidSovereign

That McGregor is something else. LOL! I'm not sure if he's brilliant, mad or both. Probably both. But he sure does have a neat array of assault craft; I don't doubt we'll get to see those in action at some point!

Author's Response:

Oh I think we will must certainly get to see the Killer Bees and Wasps in action at some rather combustive moment in the story.

And McGregor? Brilliant? Don't let him hear that! He's got a big enough head as is. Mad? I probably wouldn't say that in earshot either. He did get rid of his counsellor after all! But more of that to come.
