Exquisite. I especially loved the unspoken communication between Spock and McCoy. You've captured something I love about this trinity--no two of them are ever as close as when they're worried about the third. And you give us those emotions so subtly--and therefore deeply--that I felt every one. Thank you.

Trying to get Spock to see with his heart instead of with his head...I think he can; he just does such a good job at hiding it. ;)
Nice read! :)
Author's Response: Even from himself, sometimes.... indeed, he does. Thanks! ^___^

I came across this fic on fanfiction.net a while back, and it remains one of my favourites in the fandom. I love the touches of humour (the tent joke inevitably makes me snicker), and the characterization is just flawless - while a lot of the story is, of course, about Spock, it's Kirk's personality that shines through the brightest, and McCoy is wonderfully done as well. Thank you so much for writing this!
Author's Response: Thank you so much. I'm glad they all came through, especially Kirk. His characterization has given me trouble in the past. You're very welcome -- hopefully there'll be more in the future!

Great read. The tent joke in particular was dead funny. Spock's descriptions were all too logical and expected from him. But I like to think he was playing the captain along the whole time too.
Author's Response: *smiles* It seems to me Spock gets human communication far more than he lets on, and simply chooses his own way most of the time. Playing the captain along, hm? It's certainly something he'd do -- use the first tools at hand to keep his friend conscious and his mind off the pain -- though as I was writing it, he seemed to be using all that rhetoric to work around his own reactions as well, if that makes sense. Anyway, thanks for liking it!

Oh god that was beautiful. And I so needed it. Many thanks to steff for pointing me in this direction.
Wonderfully written with so much unsaid said.
The line where Spock thought it wasn't fair that Jim couldn't see the Enterprise was poignant. I adored the tent joke and Spock using quotes to get out of an original description is a idea I had never considered and makes complete sense. He uses quotes so often, and this makes perfect sense as to why.
Thanks so much for writing. This is a wonderful fic and I will remember it fondly (and re-read it several times, I'm sure :D).
(this made crawling out of bed before the sun totally worth it)
Author's Response: Wow, thank you so much for your touching review! I'm so glad it worked that well for you, and hope you continue to enjoy it in the future. It was really the stars that made me do it. They seem so close when the air is cold and clear. And oh hi, I remember you (and your great stories) from livejournal! ^___^ Will have to go over and look at your fics when I get time (school is killing my reading time these days). See you around!

I read this somewhere else about a year ago, not LJ, 1001 Trektales, perhaps? I remember liking it then, but loving it now. Did you revise it, or is it the same? No matter, it is excellent nonetheless...
Author's Response: Hm? That's odd; I've only posted it on LJ, fanfiction.net, and here, so if it was on Trektales, someone else must have linked it there. It's the same version on all three. Many thanks for the compliment, though! ^___^

OK, yes, this is interesting for what it implies, with Kirk trying to get Spock to see with his heart instead of his analytical mind. It has no explanation-and needs none.
Author's Response: *smiles* Yes; that's what I was trying to do. It's good to know it came through -- thank you. :)

Beautiful. So much said in not so many words. Thank you for this wonderful moment. And for making Spock tell the tent joke. ;-)
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I figured Spock must have heard it somewhere -- it's supposed to be the funniest joke in the language, after all. Glad it worked for you!
