Reminds me of a portion of the animated film Heavy Metal and yet, this aside, this piece worked for me in some way I can't put my finger on. Not a negative point, far from it, I quite liked it. Wish I could be more eloquent but rest assured I'm far into the positive on this :)

Author's Response: Thank you, Mac. I want to develop this further, but I am not sure when that will happen. Glad you liked it, and thanks for reading.

Well realized and very evocative. Is a cage a cage if people don't know they're caged? Good question and I have no answer.

Author's Response: Thanks for reading. I don't know the answer to that, either.

Awesome.  Simply awesome.  I would love to know more about this.

Author's Response: Thanks for the read, Kes. It's always seemed to me that the Prime Directive was a sort of double edged sword--as in, what if we are meant to interfere at times, but we don't know that? And the thought has crossed my mind once or twice that the stars might have been put where they were to shield us from seeing what lies beyond, until we are ready to understand. Beyond that, I am not sure where this story came from, so no answers yet, but I will be trying to write more of it by summer, I am sure. Again, thanks for reading.

Interesting and very well written. I'd like to read more about who/what this alien is and what's going on with the world below.

Author's Response: Thank you very much.

It's a head scratcher of a piece. So much mystery, unanswered questions and unknown about the entire situation presented. However, it is a head scratcher that is evocative, vivid in capturing the essence of the world's protector, and has an almost poetic feel to it, certainly a helping of fantasy element to it but which seems fitting given the primitive world setting and the advanced level of technology of the 'aliens' which would make them come across as fantastical and mythical. Sorcha almost felt like she was some sort of myhtical protector like Wonder Woman / Diana over looking, protecting and protective of the planet to the extent she evens questions her role and the protection she seems to over for the innocent world and where perhaps it is Sorcha who is innocent, not knowing the truth of these matters. Makes it all quite fascinating it has to be said.

Author's Response: Thank you for reading. You've given me some food for thought about how to go about expanding this piece in the future, though I'll have a good deal more thinking to do before that expansion happens.

This really got me thinking, and wondering who the 'aliens' were.  Were they talking of a past, present or future Earth, or some other world altogether?

No matter, well written and hauntingly beautiful.  And definitely food for thought...

Author's Response: Thank you for reading! Actually,I am not sure I can answer those questions at the moment. As I told someone else, I am not sure where this story came from. I have wondered in the past whether the stars we see might be a screen for something else.
