I definitely enjoy an intelligent monster - kudos on Parlan's very succinct introduction.

Ashok definitely showed his value in this situation - I'm enjoying the layers of complexity not only with the Baron, but also with the crew taking the right kinds of initiative.

Also enjoyed the opening sequence with the monster analyzing Dunleavy.

Thanks!! rbs

Oh boy, Sandhurst is in a bind now...

What an awesome end of chapter! Assist me and live, interfere and die! Love it!

A really interesting opening, as well, with the very sci-fiesque encounter and further vision of the officer seemingly vaporised in the previous installment. You gave it a real Arthur C Clarke edge to it, or maybe Baxter. Thought that was really well written.

And interesting to get some further background on Sandhurst, although Pava shouldn't have forced his hand that way.

Can't wait to see what comes next!

Author's Response:

I'm glad the scene with Dunleavy in the other dimension came across well.  Pava definitely stepped over the line with Donald, but as he's just come out of a defacto coma, he might deserve a bit of slack.  But only a bit.  ;-)  Thanks for commenting!

Ashok may not be a miracle worker, but he's a damned savvy engineer. I like him more and more every time I see him.

Author's Response:

Thanks, he's growing on me, too.

Seeing the Baron get utterly owned by Ashok's thoughtfulness just made my day. Awesome.

Author's Response:

Much obliged.  It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. ;-)
