Following the emotionally charged ending of “Duet”, Odo is appalled to learn that the Ministry of Justice has ordered Kainon released despite having murdered Aiman Maritza. With Kira Nerys accompanying him, Odo meets with the Ministry in person in the hope of changing their minds. During that meeting, Kira and Odo come to realize how corrupt the nascent Bajoran government really is.

Following the Dominion War, the Klingon High Council began turning a blind eye to the actions of the Ku'Vok-leth. Now, this anti-Federation group plans on using one of the biggest scientific discoveries, a single particle capable of destroying subspace, as a weapon.
